Gender-Based Differences in Compliment Responses Among Jordanian University Students

The current study aims at exploring the difference between male and female Jordanian university students with regard to their compliment responses on Facebook. It also investigates when they respond compliments offered by opposite sex. is based a corpus consisting of 233 collected from comments Facebook posts. data analysis was Herbert’s (1986) taxonomy response strategies. Findings this research show that both tended use agreement strategies more frequently than non-agreement other interpretation findings although frequently, there are differences in sub-categories strategy among them. Results indicated culture, norms, expectations, as well relationship complimenter complimentee, accounted for very limited number appearance occurred two different genders.
